Which one is better? Fiat Punto or Maruti Ritz or Tata Indica Vista? A detailed comparison is given.



Design and Styling

Though these hatchbacks look smaller in size, there is enough interior space in all three of them. All of them have most modern styling and design. Where Punto and Vista have Italian Design, Ritz owes its design to the Japanese.

The Fiat Punto's grill is similar to that of Maserati cars. The sloping wind screen, entirely different bonet, mercury drop headlamp, the front quarter glass and the long bumper gives Punto a stylish look. Punto is a medium size car with 195-60 R 15 tyres and larger wheel arches. The suspension has been lifted a little for Indian models. The Fiat logo and vertical tail lamps at the rear captures everyone's attention. The higher models have ABS, airbags and automatic a/c.

The design of A-star has influenced the Ritz's design a lot. The design has similarities to that of A-star. But when closely examined, both can be distinguished quickly. The rear side of Ritz itself differs from that of A-star. The Ritz has a more sporty look. It is equipped with security features such as ABS and EBD. The diesel model doesn't have alloy wheels. New Ritz comes in 5 colours. The interior of Ritz has a blue-black colour coding.

The Tata Indica Vista comes in a new platform with Fiat engine. The new model is larger in size than its predecessor Indica. The smiling grill as in old Indica gives a similarity with the old model. The new vista has a compact design. The headlamps in new vista gives Vista a modern look. The tail lamps are same as that in old Indica. The Vista has body colour rub rails, door handle and wing mirrors. Vista comes in three variants-Terra, Aqua and Aura among which Aura is cuter. Vista hav larger interior spacing and comfortable interiors.

Comparatively, the Ritz has a more radical design. Punto has pure European design. The biege interior of Vista is also good. But vista doesn't have steering stereo controls.

Among the three cars, passenger cabin space is higher for Vista. The dicky space for the three is:

Driving

The 1.3 multi-jet engine in the three cars gives different performance. The weight, suspension features, tyre size, gear ratio etc. influences the performance a lot.

May be because of the higher gear ratio of Punto, the power of Punto is above 2000 rpm. The Punto with 1190 kg has more weight among the three. As a result, there is a little lag. The 0-100km time is slightly greater. The topspeed is 155km. As it can be driven at 30km/hr even above 3rd gear, city driving is easier. 15 inch tyres increases road grip and road handling. All together, Punto has all comforts of an European car.

The Ritz which is built on Swift platform is larger in size than Swift. The larger size is reflected in the driving also. The Ritz weighs 1110 kg only. As a result, Ritz has highest performance among the three. The max. power is above 2000 rpm. Among the three, only Ritz has electric steering.

Vista is also heavier than Ritz. It weighs 1140 kg. As a result pick up has decreased a little. Larger size increases Vista's road grip. Light clutch and improved gear shift increases Vista's drivability. Vista is no.1 in travel comfort.

Luhya Wedding Traditions

The Luhya community mostly resides in the Western part of Kenya with a population of about three million. Known for their elaborate ceremonies, the Luhya enjoy holding big parties to celebrate occasions. Luhya weddings are very elaborate and important occasions. They are accompanied with many wedding photos and celebrations. Before one gets married, the groom will have taken bride wealth to the bride's parents as a sign of gratitude. Unlike Toronto wedding ceremonies, bride wealth is meant to cement relations between the two families.

The first step before a Luhya traditional wedding can take place is payment of the bride price. The groom is expected to take a token of appreciation to the bride's parents to show that the parents raised their daughter well. Traditionally, this token would be in the form of livestock or farm produce. This token would act as a token to show how much the man cares for his future wife and show that he can provide for his future family as well. The Luhya community is known to love chicken and these are provided in plenty for guests to eat. On the wedding day, the man would go to the bride's homestead and call out the girl's name. If the girl responds, the ceremony can then go on. In the past, guests in attendance dress in special traditional attire with paintings all over their bodies and dance the whole night. The ceremony would last for about three days. The married couple would then proceed to their new home.

Present day Luhya wedding ceremonies are more modern and include celebrating the event in a church. Dancing and singing accompany most luhya weddings. Groups of women who sing praise songs encircle the bride. The wedding party normally arrives at the church a few minutes before the ceremony starts. The ceremony is usually recorded on video and wedding photos taken. This is one attribute that both Luhya and Toronto weddings have. Once the church ceremony is over, the wedding party goes to the reception venue for wedding photos and food. Luhya weddings have plenty of traditional foods to offer as well as western cuisine. Entertainment in a luhya wedding involves singing traditional songs and dancing to their tunes. Luhya dancing is quite vigorous and is a very entertaining activity. Unlike in Toronto, Luhyas can hold their ceremonies for as long as two weeks.

A Luhya wedding is not complete without speeches. The speeches normally come after gifts are given and wedding photos are taken but before the cake is cut. The theme of most wedding speeches is usually advice to the groom and his bride on how to take care of their new family. Grooms are advised to take care of the wife and the bride is advised to cook properly for the husband. Different people who may use a lot of proverbs and sayings to drive the point home give variations of the same message.

After the main event, the bride and groom go to their new home. The wedding photos taken serve as a reminder of the wedding ceremony. They can be passed down from generation to generation and act as a teaching aid to their children on the importance of marriage and families.

A Birth Story.................

Isabelle Grace Whalen has arrived! She is 8lbs 10oz and 21 inches long and she arrived on August 28th 2009 at 1:59pm

She is wonderful she has 10 fingers and 10 toes and she smells of sweet newborn baby. I am in love all over again. Her arrival into this world went smoothly, so smoothly that I would not rule out more kids. Give me a couple of weeks I may change my mind!!!!!!!!
Dan and I went to dinner alone on Thursday night before I was to check into the hospital it was strange having him all to myself for a meal. As we left I turned him and said so are you ready to be the Dad of 3 and he said "Bring it on!"

We checked in and they wasted no time getting me set up, they hooked me up to the monitors and found that I was contracting every 3 to 4 minutes and was about 1 to 2 cm dilated. They proceeded to hook up an IV line and give me the Cervidil. After about on hour on the monitors they took me off gave me a sleeping pill and called it a night. Dan and I slept from about midnight to 6am.

At 6:30am the day began, I was hooked up to the pitocine and after about 2 hours went from 1-2cm to 2 to 3cm. I was feeling the contractions but they weren't killing me, I asked about the epidural and when they thought I should have it and before I knew it the man with the magic syringe was there. With my first 2 kids I hated this part, I remember it being painful and very scary, not this time around! Sure it had a little pain associated with it but nothing like the first 2. Within 30 mins I could see the contractions but wasn't feeling them like before.

The morning progressed and I was a 7cm when the pain started to pick up but only on my right side. We could see that Miss Isabelle was hanging out totally on my right side and thought that might have something to do with why I had some pain. They gave me a bit more of the epidural and that still didn't seem to work it's magic. By 12noon I told them I was feeling pressure and they said they would wait for my Dr to check me but that there was nothing they could do about pressure pain. I was pretty certain that by this point I was 10 cm but I didn't insist they check me instead I hung out in a bit of pain waiting for my Dr. He arrived and looked at me sadly saying he was sorryI was in pain and that he would see what he could do. With that he checked me and sure enough I was 10cm, time to push. He asked me to try to push in order to be certain I still had some feeling after being epiduraled to the max and as soon as he knew I could told me to get ready to be a mom for the 3rd time in about 3 min. Man was he ever on the money. Within about 5 min I had baby Isabelle in my arms! As any of you that have kids know as soon as she was placed on my belly all the pain was gone. I was nothing but smiles!

We did have one scare but it was the kind of scare you are grateful not to have known about beforehand. Seems that Isabelle when she was a bit smaller tied her umbilical cord (which even the Dr sad was crazy long) into a knot. Thankfully that knot never got tight as it could have killed her by cutting off her lifeline to me. I was shocked when the Dr. showed me the evidence and relived that we had pressed to have her induced.

We were moved from the Labor room to a private room within about an hour. There I spent the next 2 days caring and bonding with Isabelle. I have never been a good breast feeder. I had a horrible experience with Lauren and with Jackson I only made it about 3 weeks and even that seemed to to be struggle. This time it has been different, Isabelle latches on easily and seems to get what she needs. I hope to continue for a while although I will need to assess once it is time to go back to work. A note about the nursing staff I had caring for me in the hospital they were awesome, I have to say this by far was the best experience in a medical environment I have ever had. It is not often that the medical field asks how they can make you more comfortable Dan kept calling this the "kiss your ass" way to have a child, these women got me whatever I wanted whenever I wanted and did it with a smile. By the time I left I felt as though I had bonded with them.

Last night was our first night home and Isabelle was a dream, she ate at 9:30 went to bed and didn't get up till 1:15 we fed until 2 and then she woke up again at 5:45. I won't hold my breath that it will happen 2 nights in a row but it was a nice homecoming.

Variable Valve Timing:-

In a direct-injection system, the fuel is injected directly into the cylinder and the air enters through the intake manifold. This advanced technology allows more control over the amount of fuel injected and time taken for injection. This also helps in a more complete combustion that further helps to churn out more power from each drop of gasoline.
Today, many car manufacturers including Audi have incorporated Direct Fuel Injection technology. In India, cars like Indica V2, Indigo, Safari etc. uses this technology.
Continuously Variable Transmission:-
The Continuously Variable Transmission is a type of automatic transmission which brings out more usable power, improves fuel efficiency, and offers a smoother driving experience.
The CVT enables easy, efficient and quick change in gear ratios between maximum and minimum values. This enables the engine to run at its most efficient rpm (Revolutions Per Minute) over a range of speeds. This has the power to handle powerful engines and provide quicker acceleration while maintaining superior fuel efficiency.

Automated Manual Transmission:-
